Collection Overview

Reclaiming the Everglades: South Florida's Natural History, 1884-1934, documents the development of the modern conservation movement, the establishment of the Everglades National Park and the role of state and federal governments in the development of a national park. Also included within this collection is information on the evolving role of women within the political scene, the treatment of Native Americans in Florida and the accountability of government agencies as trustees of public resources. This collection is composed of material from University of Miami, Florida International University and the Historical Museum of Southern Florida.
