America, North: Italian

This recipe is important because this is the first thing my mom learned to make in California. She came to live with my aunt. My aunt taught her how to do it. This dish is served whenever we feel like eating it - when we sit at the table with a great big smile.

2 packages pasta
2 1/2 pounds pork
2 small cans tomato salsa (4oz)
1 tsp margarine
4 cups water
10 basil leafs

1. Boil the pasta in 4 cups of water for about 8 minutes.
2. Brown the meat in the margarine.
3. Pour tomato salsa into drained browned meat.
4. Place the 10 basil leafs in the meat mixture.
5. Cook altogether for about 10 minutes
6. Serve the meat mixture over the cooked and drained pasta.
