Pecan Pie Bars

Africa, Central: African

I like this recipe because it's sweet. We use this dish sometimes on special occasions. Most people would say that pecan pie bars taste better than pecan pies.If you like pecan pie, you'll love these bars!

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup margarine
5 eggs
1 cup dark corn syrup
3/4 cup white sugar
1 pinch salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
Combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter and margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Press into a 9 x 13 inch pan and bake for 10 minutes.
Combine remaining ingredients except pecans and blend well. Stir in pecans. Pour over baked crust.
Reduce oven temperature to 275 degrees F (140 degrees C). Bake 50 minutes or until set. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
