Grandma Betty's Butter cookies

Other: American

This family recipe is important to our family because my grandma Betty was a great cook, especially when cooking deserts. Every occasion everyone wanted a taste of these cookies and couldn't wait for her to let us eat them, but they are never as good as they were when she cooked them.

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour

1- Gather all ingredients
2- Put all except flour in a bowl and mix with electric beater.
3- Then add flour slowly while still mixing with beater.
(keep beater on medium speed until flour is mixed in somewhat then mix at high speed until batter is a smooth, creamy mix.)
4- Using a large spoon mix the batter for 2 mintues to make sure all dry ingredients are mixed in.
5- Using a smaller spoon take little portions, the size of the cookie you would like, and put then one by one on a cookie sheet.
6- When sheet is filled with cookie batter, put pan into oven at 375 degrees and let cookies cook for about 10 10-12 minutes or untl cookies are light, golden brown.
7- take pan out of oven, let cool, using spatula, take cookies off sheet, serve, and enjoy.
