Roast

America, North: American

Roast was always our Sunday dinner. It was special becasue my dad put it together before church. When we got home from church the whole house smelled of pot roast and LOVE.
Dad's parents were from Sweden and Norway, but he was born in California. Beef was a special meal when he was a child, because they were very poor.

Ingredients

10 lb. beef rump roast
salt and pepper
1 potato for each person
1 carrot for each person
4 large celery stalks
1 large onion, sliced
1 clove garlic
1 cup water

Preparation

1. Brown roast
2. Put roast in a large roasting pan or a slow cooker.
3. Season with salt, pepper, onion and garlic.
4.Scrub potatoes, carrots, and celery.
5. Place vegetables in pan on top of the roast.
6. Pour water in pan.
7. Roast in oven at 350 for 4 hours or in slow cooker for 8 to 9 hours until done.
8. Make gravy from the broth.
