Children's illustrator Kadir Nelson appears at the National Book Festival.
Speaker Biography: Kadir Nelson has illustrated many celebrated picture books for children, including two Caldecott Honor titles, "Henry's Freedom Box: A True Story from the Underground Railroad" and "Moses: When Harriet Tubman Led Her People to Freedom." His own book, "We Are the Ship: The Story of Negro League Baseball," won numerous honors, including the 2009 Coretta Scott King Author Award. "Change Has Come: An Artist Celebrates Our American Spirit" features Nelson's illustrations and the words of President Barack Obama. Nelson is the illustrator of "Testing the Ice: A True Story About Jackie Robinson" (2009), written by Sharon Robinson. He lives in California.
