The Letters About Literature presentation at the 2010 National Book Festival. Letters About Literature, a national reading and writing promotion program of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, is presented in partnership with Target. Each year students in grades 4 through 12 are invited to write a personal letter to an author, explaining how that author"s work has changed their view of the world or of themselves. For the 2009-2010 Letters About Literature program, 70,000 students submitted letters that were judged at the state and national levels. Winners from the Washington area will read their winning letters to authors Katherine Paterson and Michael Buckley.
