DESCRIPTION:
For the first time in history, the Library's first draft of the Emancipation Proclamation along with two artifacts associated with the creation of the document were brought together at the Library for a photo shoot for Smithsonian Magazine. The other two items consisted of an inkwell used by Lincoln in formulating the proclamation and a pen he used to sign the final document. Inspired by the Smithsonian story, the Library produced a video on the three objects and their significance in transforming a nation.
