The National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, with the state arts agencies of the United States, are the creators of Poetry Out Loud, a program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. This exciting program helps students master public-speaking skills, build self-confidence and learn about their literary heritage. Award-winning students perform poems during this event.
