Greek Music Concert Set for November 22 at Library of Congress
The American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress will
present a free concert of traditional music from the Greek
island of Crete Monday on November 22, 12 noon - 1:00 p.m. in
the West Dining Room on the 6th floor of the Madison Building of
the Library of Congress.
The group performing for the American Folklife Center features
George Koukakis playing laouto, Markos Daskalomarkakis playing
lyra, and his daughter, Soula Daskalomarkaki, playing laouto.
This concert is part of the group's first tour in the United
States. The concert is free and open to the public. The Madison
Building is accessible by Metro (one block north of Capitol
South station on the Orange and Blue lines). The concert will be
broadcast at a later date on WAMU 88.5 FM on the Dick Spottswood
Show.
