Media Advisory: World's Largest Literacy Mural To Be Completed at the Library of Congress

A group of cartoonists will finish painting the world's largest mural on the subject of literacy on the side of a 53 foot tractor-trailer truck parked in front of the Library of Congress Thomas Jefferson Building, at 1st & Independence Ave., SE on Thursday, September 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The event will celebrate International Literary Day and mark the beginning of a 5-year national tour of the truck sponsored by Cartoonists Across America and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.

During the "paint-in," the 1994 reading slogan from the Library of Congress Center for the Book, "Books Change Lives," will be added to the side of the truck, among other images.
