Change in Date for February Symposium at the Library of Congress

The date for the Decade of the Brain symposium on "plasticity" previously scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 8, has been changed to Tuesday, Feb. 7. The location of the event has also been changed to the Great Hall in the Library's Jefferson Building, 10 First Street SE. The time is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The title of the symposium is "The Adaptable Brain," and experts in the field will discuss the capacity of the brain to make up for deficits at either early or late stages of development by substituting alternative circuits. Featured speakers are: Michael Merzenich, Department of Otolaryngology and Physiology, and Roger A. Nicoll, Department of Pharmacology, both from the University of California at San Francisco; Richard Tsien, George D. Smith Professor, Department of Molecular and Cellular Physiology, Stanford University School of Medicine; and Anthony Damasio, Van Allen Professor and Head, Department of Neurology, University of Iowa College of Medicine.
