June 19 Lecture By James Buchanan Canceled
A lecture by James McGill Buchanan, professor of economics at George Mason University and a 1986 Nobel Prize winner in economics, previously scheduled for June 19 in the Mary Pickford Theater of the Library of Congress, has been canceled.
The subject of Dr. Buchanan's lecture was to have been an examination of the impact of Adam Smith's 18th century work, The Wealth of Nations. It was the last in a series of lectures, funded by the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, on works "that mattered to Western citizenship, statecraft, and public policy."
The Library regrets any inconvenience this cancellation may cause.
