POETRY READING BY YEHUDA AMICHAI CANCELED
The poetry reading by Yehuda Amichai scheduled for 6:45
p.m. Wednesday, December 2 has been canceled. The reading
was to be presented under the auspices of the Gertrude
Clarke Whittall Poetry and Literature Fund in cooperation
with the Embassy of Israel.
Mr. Amichai's reading was to be one of several events
at the Library of Congress marking Israel's 50th
anniversary. The ongoing exhibition, "Zion's Call: A Library
of Congress Exhibition Marking Israel's Fiftieth Year,"
opened September 17 and closes December 19. Among items on
display are the first Hebrew book printed in the Holy Land.
The free exhibition is located in the South Gallery of the
Great Hall of the Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 First St.
S.E. Exhibition hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through

series is also being held in the Mary Pickford Theater on
