Library of Congress Pays Tribute To Folk Music Forebears During Two-Day Celebration on March 15-16
Registration is Closed to the Public, but Media are Invited to Attend
The Library of Congress is celebrating the musical legacy of the Seeger Family during a two-day program, sponsored by the American Folklife Center, titled "How Can I Keep from Singing? A Seeger Family Tribute" on March 15-16 in the Mumford Room, 6th floor of the James Madison Building, 101 Indpendence Ave., S.E., Washington, D.C.
Kicking off the program will be a screening of documentary film clips from the Pete and Toshi Seeger Film Collection at 8 p.m., on Thursday, March 15. Neil Rosenberg, professor emeritus at Memorial University of Newfoundland, delivers the keynote address for a symposium on Friday, March 16, beginning at 9 a.m. Culminating the two-day program will be a concert, co-sponsored with the Library’s Music Division, featuring Pete, Mike and Peggy Seeger with family and friends at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 16, in the Coolidge Auditorium, ground floor of the Thomas Jefferson Building, 101 First Street, S.E., Washington, D.C.
