Public Areas of the Library of Congress Open on Selected Federal Holidays
The Great Hall, Library of Congress Experience exhibitions and Library Shop in the Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress are open to the public on the following Federal holidays:
- Martin Luther King Holiday
- George Washington’s Birthday / Presidents’ Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Columbus Day
- Veterans’ Day
These facilities are not open on these Federal holidays:
- New Year's Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
All other sections of the Thomas Jefferson Building, including Reading Rooms, are closed on all Federal holidays, as are the other buildings and facilities of the Library of Congress. All Library of Congress facilities are closed on Sundays.
