An Important Message for Current and Prospective Partners

Update on the VHP Partner Program Transition
The Veterans History Project (VHP) has successfully grown into a vibrant collection of over 65,000 individual personal accounts of wartime.   That achievement is due to the dedication of a vast corps of volunteer interviewers (both individuals and “partner” organizations) across our nation.

As many of you know, VHP has taken the last year to examine policies, plans, and procedures to help us more efficiently and effectively meet our congressional mandate and mission.  It has been a necessary process to review and update our short- and long-range plans.

VHP no longer accepts organizations to the Partner Program, because the VHP Partner Program is transitioning into a new program that recognizes all—both individuals and organizations that record stories according to the straightforward guidelines outlined in the VHP Field Kit.

That transition process continues, and VHP will announce the new program in the near future via VHP’s Really Simple Syndication (RSS) and through the VHP Web site.  Subscribe to the VHP RSS now to receive general VHP updates, including news of this transition process as it becomes available.

How to Participate
All volunteers—individuals and organizations—are encouraged to volunteer to record stories of wartime veterans for the Veterans History Project.  To get started simply follow the steps to Participate and download the VHP Field Kit. If you have any questions, we encourage you to refer to the FAQs or the VHP Field Kit first.  Should your question not be covered there, please contact us.

Again, many thanks for recording and submitting the thousands of stories that comprise this vibrant collection of personal histories of our nation’s wartime veterans.  We appreciate your understanding, patience, and support as we transition to a program designed to recognize the efforts of all VHP participants.

All volunteer interviewers (whether partners, non-partners, high school classes or students) are essential to preserving the legacy of America’s veterans.
