Projects

Since 2000, the Library of Congress has developed thematic or event-based Web archive collections. The following is a list of collections and projects that are in various stages of production. Where researcher access is available, a link to the archive is provided.

• Election 2008

  Presidential, congressional and gubernatorial candidates, political party, government, advocacy, blogs, public opinion, and miscellaneous Web sites related to the 2008 United States elections.
  Collection dates: April 2007 - November 2008

• Legal Blogs

  A selective collection of authoritative blogs associated with American Bar Association approved law schools, research institutes, think tanks, and other expertise-based organizations, containing journal-style entries, articles and essays, discussions, and comments on emerging legal issues, national and international.
  Collection dates: March 2007 - December 2007

• Election 2006

  Congressional and gubernatorial candidates, political party, government, advocacy, blogs, public opinion, and miscellaneous Web sites related to the 2006 United States elections.
  Collection dates: May – November 2006

• Prints and Photographs Acquisitions

  Photography, graphic arts, and other visual material Web sites, which compliment, expand and enhance the P&P collections.
  Collection dates: April – September 2006

• The Manuscript Division Archive of Organizational Web Sites

  Web sites of existing donors including civil rights and political advocacy groups, professional and honorary organizations, memorial groups, and research and educational organizations.
  Collection dates: April – September 2006

• General Collections Archiving Pilot (Single Site)

  A pilot project for a non-thematic collection of Web sites.
  Collection dates: April – September 2006

• Crisis in Darfur, Sudan

  Organizations, news reports, and the responses of government, international organizations and the general public in the U.S. and worldwide to the crisis in Darfur.
  Collection dates: February – September 2006

• Hurricane Katrina

  A partnership with the Internet Archive and the California Digital Library to document communications, reactions and commentary on the unprecedented natural disaster of Hurricane Katrina.

• Supreme Court

  The Supreme Court nomination and appointment process.
  Collection dates: August 2005 - February 2006

• Papal Transition

  Reactions to the death of Pope John Paul II and the election of the new pope.
  Collection dates: April - May 2005

• U.S. Congressional Web Sites

  House, Senate, congressional committee and related congressional Web sites.
  Collection dates: December 2003 – present

  Congressional, gubernatorial, and presidential candidates, political party, government, advocacy, blogs, public opinion, and miscellaneous Web sites related to the 2004 United States elections.

• Iraq War 2003

  Public policy Web sites documenting the Iraq War.

• The 107th Congress

  Official Web sites of members of Congress and congressional committees.
  Collection date: December 12, 2002

• September 11 Remembrance

  Remembrances on the first anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001.
  Collection date: September 2002

• Election 2002 Web Archive

  Congressional and gubernatorial candidates, political party, government, advocacy, blogs, public opinion, and miscellaneous Web sites related to the 2002 United States elections.

• Winter Olympic Games 2002

  Web expressions of individuals, groups, the press and institutions in the United States and from around the world in the aftermath of the attacks in the United States on September 11, 2001.
