The LOC.GOV Wise Guide : Meet Some Amazing Americans

If you haven't been to the America's Library Web site lately, then you haven't met the latest "Amazing Americans."

"Meet Amazing Americans" is one of five sections in the interactive Web site designed for kids that is enjoyed by users of all ages. New to the site are fascinating stories and brief biographies of Thurgood Marshall, John Philip Sousa and Martin Luther King Jr. New U.S. presidents are John Adams, James Madison, John Quincy Adams, Martin Van Buren and William Henry Harrison.

The "Meet Amazing Americans" section has nine subsections: "Leaders & Statesmen," (including Thurgood Marshall), "U.S. Presidents," "Activists & Reformers" (including Martin Luther King Jr.), "Adventurers & Explorers," "Musicians & Composers" (including John Philip Sousa), "Writers & Artists," "Industrialists & Entrepreneurs," "Scientists & Inventors" and "Athletes & Entertainers."

The "Dynamite Presidents" game is also in "Amazing Americans." Here you can "carve" Mount Rushmore using dynamite just like the sculptor Gutzon Borglum did.

In addition to "Meet Amazing Americans," America's Library invites users to "Jump Back in Time," "Explore the States," "Join America at Play" and "See, Hear & Sing."
