Harper-Inglis Summer Fellowship in Photograph Conservation

Program Description:

The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world, with more than 121 million items on approximately 530 miles of bookshelves. The collections include some 17 million books, 2 million recordings, 12 million photographs, 4 million maps, and 50 million manuscripts. With collections of this depth and breadth, there are enormous preservation challenges.

Application Schedule:

Topics to be covered in the Fellowship are determined by the Intern and an Library of Congress Conservator. Projects may include rehousing collections of 19th century photographs, designing and constructing supports and enclosures, consolidation, repair and restoration of cased images, and the development of surveys and work plans. Deadline for application for the Fellowship is March 15.
