Other decisions:
Baggins, Frodo (Fictitious character)
According to instruction sheet H 1610 in the Subject Cataloging Manual, authority records for fictitious characters do not include broader-term references. The proposal to add a BT reference to this heading was not approved.
Dredges and dredging (Fisheries)
This proposed heading combines an activity and its equipment into one heading. Current LC practice normally provides separate headings for such concepts. The proposal may be resubmitted for either the activity or equipment or both concepts if needed.
Gaochang (Kingdom)
Headings for ancient kingdoms are established as name headings (see instructions in SCM H 405). The proposal was not approved.
Gay men, Asian
Headings for classes of persons are not qualified by regional or national adjectives. This concept would be expressed with geographic subdivision. The proposal was not approved.
Graphic novels
This proposal included a general see-also reference to a proposed new subdivision --Graphic novels. LC terminology for form subdivisions is frequently at a broad level, with the same subdivision being used for multiple more specific genres. For example, the subdivision --Fiction is used for both novels and short stories; the subdivision --In art is used for drawing, painting, and sculpture. The appropriate subdivision in this case would be --Comic books, strips, etc. since graphic novels are a type of comic book. The proposal was revised to indicate that the more comprehensive subdivision may be used for graphic novels on specific topics.
Health education--Teacher training
The subdivision --Teacher training is used only in the field of religious education. For the training of teachers in other fields, the subdivision --Training of is used under the heading for the class of teachers. This proposal may be resubmitted as a proposal for the class of teachers.
Sex role in children's literature; Stereotype (Psychology) in children's literature
LC has not established separate headings for concepts in specific forms or genres of literature. The established headings Sex role in literature and Stereotype (Psychology) in literature should be assigned, with additional headings assigned to cover the specific form of literature.
Teachers--In-service training
This heading is a free-floating combination. It is LC practice to omit references from such headings in most cases. The proposal to add a broader-term reference was not approved.
