Caucasus
The proposed reference reflects the Arabic term for this region. Foreign-language references are added to geographic subject authority records only when the language has a relationship to the area, such as a language spoken in the area or the language of a country that controlled the area (see Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings, instruction sheet H 690, sec. 10.a). The Arabic language does not appear to meet the criteria for such a reference. The proposed reference was not approved.
Fortymile Dining District (Alaska)
Mining districts are established as name headings, not as subject headings (see SCM:SH, H 405). The proposal was not approved.
Quotations, Philippine (English)
With the exception of American quotations, subject headings for quotations are established with qualifiers for language but not for nationality. Quotations from the Philippines in the English language would be expressed by Quotations, English--Philippines. The proposed heading was not approved.
Simpsons (Fictitious characters)--Homes and haunts
Headings for individual fictitious characters or groups of fictitious characters are normally subdivided only by those subdivisions that are widely used under topical subject headings, such as the subdivisions --Exhibitions or --Fiction. It is not desirable to subdivide headings for fictitious characters by those subdivisions that are restricted to individual real persons or groups. The proposal was not approved.
