Other decisions:

Architecture--Historiography

This heading represents a free-floating combination that would not normally be represented by an authority record. While existing authority records for such free-floating combinations are not normally cancelled, they usually do not contain any references. Such authority records may contain UF references for significantly different terminology, but references that represent grammatical or syntactical variations of the heading are not to be added. The proposal to add a UF reference Architectural historiography was not approved.

Folk art

The only documentation submitted for the proposed UF reference Popular art (Visual arts) was a title in Portuguese. While the word "popular" may be equivalent to "folk" in Portuguese, that is not sufficient cause to add a reference to the English heading. The proposal may be resubmitted if there is support for equivalence of the terms in English.

Traffic fatalities--Causes

The information submitted concerning the work being cataloged implies that the causes being discussed, such as excessive speed, are the causes of the traffic accidents not the causes of death. The heading Traffic accidents is used for such works. The proposal was not approved.

Verbal ability tests

According to Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings, instruction sheet H 2186, sec. 3.c., the subdivision --Testing is used under phrase headings for types of ability for both tests and testing related to these abilities. The free-floating combination Verbal ability--Testing would be used for tests of verbal ability. The proposed heading was not approved.
