Classification

Table KF1

This is the first step in the process of simplifying the form division tables used in the KF schedule. Similar simplifications for the remaining KF form division tables will appear on future lists. Each table should continue to be applied in its present form until the simplified version has appeared on a weekly list, been approved, and been imported into Classification Web.

Subject Headings

National historic landmarks

Works about U.S. national historic landmarks have been assigend the topical headings Historic sites--United States, Historic buildings--United States, and/or the name heading National Historic Landmark Program (U.S.). Those three headings seem appropriate to assign to the item that generated this proposal. The proposed new heading was not approved.

Private magazines

It is not clear what this heading means, or if it is synonymous with the term "private periodicals", which is also in use. The heading may be resubmitted with a scope note and with the UF Private periodicals, if appropriate.

Public works projects

It has been a long-standing practice to assign the existing heading Public works to works about public works projects, often in conjunction with the heading Construction projects. There does not seem to be any need to establish a new heading that overlaps with existing headings and that might result in confusion or inconsistency in application. The proposal was not approved.

Sports officials

This proposed heading would be appropriate as a BT for a large number of existing headings that currently have the BT Sports personnel. The proposal may be resubmitted together with proposals to revise the BT on those existing headings.

Urban renewal projects

The existing heading Urban renewal is used for works on urban renewal projects. The proposed heading was not approved.
