Classification

PB2299.D385

Subject Headings

Subdivisions to be added to lists of free-floating subdivisions:

H 1110, Indiv pers

$x In rabbinical literature

Other decisions:

Academic resilience

This proposed heading is ambiguous and unclear, and requires a scope note. If it is intended to refer to the ability of students to succeed in school despite adverse economic or social conditions, the heading might be clearer and less ambiguous if it were proposed in the form Student resilience, a form commonly found on the Web. The proposed BT Personality and academic achievement does not seem appropriate according to the guidelines for hierarchical references provided in the Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings, H 370. The proposal may be resubmitted.

Campo Maior (Portugal)--History--Siege, 1801

Since this siege was part of the War of the Oranges rather than the War of the Second Coalition, the BT that is proposed is not appropriate. A heading for the War of the Oranges needs to be established so that the proper BT can be made. The proposed 053 is not appropriate since it is just a general number for the history of Campo Maior and since it is not explicitly included in the classification schedule. The UF is not appropriate per the Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings, H 1592, sec. 4.d. The proposal may be resubmitted.

Cheju Island (Korea)

A name authority record already exists for Cheju-do (Korea). Since the province and the island are co-extensive, that heading should be used for both. The proposal was not approved.

Mohli Marine Parke (Comoros)

The Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings, H 1925, sec. 1.a., specifies that parks are established in the vernacular of the country where they are located. Comoros has three official languages: Comorian, French, and Arabic. Since French is the language of administration, it should be treated as the vernacular for the country, and the park should be established in that language. References should be made from the Comorian and Arabic forms if they can be found. The proposal may be resubmitted.

National Park "Pripyatski" (Belarus)

As stated in the summary of decisions for weekly list 08/39, this park should be established under its Belarusian name rather than its English name. The proposal may be resubmitted.

Prayer life

The existing heading Prayer is used for the topic of prayer life. Since the subdivisions --Prayers and devotions, --Religious life, and --Spiritual life are also available for use under various categories of headings, a new subdivision --Prayer life is not needed. The proposal was not approved.

Slave ships

The proposed BT does not seem appropriate for this type of ship and was not approved.

Tramp shipping

The proposed BT is not in accordance with the principles for making hierarchical references provided in the Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings, H 370. The proposal was not approved.

Upper Salmon River Watershed (Idaho)

The Upper Salmon River has not yet been established. The proposal to establish the watershed may be resubmitted together with a proposal to establish the river (see the Subject Cataloging Manual: Subject Headings, H 800, sec. 9).
