Changes were made as indicated on the approved list.

Subject Headings

Bees family

According to reference sources, Bees is a variant form of the family name Bee. A UF reference will be added from Bees family to the existing heading Bee family. The proposal was not approved.

Miertjieskraal Dam (South Africa)

LCSH makes a distinction between dams and the reservoirs that they create, and it is unclear from the broader terms and the reference sources cited which use is intended. If the dam and the reservoir have the same name, the proposal should be qualified appropriately according to Subject Headings Manual (SHM) instruction sheet H 690, sec. 8. If headings for both the dam and the reservoir are required, then two proposals should be prepared. The proposal may be resubmitted.

Colac Bay/Ōraka (N.Z. : Bay)

This proposal was made to add the generic qualifier to the heading, designating that the heading is for the bay. While there is a populated place called Colac Bay in New Zealand, there does not appear to be another entity named Colac Bay/Ōraka, and therefore there is no conflict. The proposal was not approved.

Creasy family

According to reference sources, Creasy is a variant form of the family name Crease. A UF reference will be added from Creasy family to the existing heading Crease family. The proposal was not approved.

Dial-a-message telephone calls

This proposal was made to add UFs for Robocalls to the existing heading Dial-a-message telephone calls. Robocalls are automated telephone calls used to deliver a recorded message and are not initiated by the recipient. Dial-a-message calls are initiated by a person who dials a number in order to receive an automated message, such as the weather report. The terms are not synonymous. The proposal was not approved; a separate proposal for robocalls may be submitted.

Lango (African people)

The proposal was made to add the term Langi as a UF to the existing heading Lango (African people). Langi is the plural form of Lango. Plural forms of the names of ethnic groups are not generally provided as cross-references. The proposal was not approved.

Outhouses

Sanitary units typically include facilities for washing and showering and are not synonymous with outhouses, which are structures that house toilets. The proposal to add a UF Sanitary units to the heading Outhouses was not approved. A separate heading for sanitary units may be proposed if needed.

Songs (Medium voice) with mandolin

Music headings that combine a vocal terms with an instrument as a medium of performance do not generally need to be established. The proposal was not necessary.

Teehaus des Museums für Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt

It appears from the work cataloged that Teehaus is a generic, not formal, name for a room of the Museum fr Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt. SHM instruction sheet H 1334 states, "If a work discusses a part of a building that is not named, assign the appropriate generic heading and a heading for the name of the building instead." The appropriate headings for the work cataloged are MAK Frankfurt and Chashitsu (Japanese tearooms)--Germany--Frankfurt. The proposal was not approved.

Twierdza Modlin (Modlin, Poland)

Reference sources indicate that Twierdza Modlin was an active military installation until at least the beginning of World War II, albeit under the name Novogeorgievsk after 1813. According to SHM instruction sheet H 405, all military installations active after 1899 are to be established as name headings. The proposal was not approved.
