Present from PSD: J. Young, R. Goudreau
Classification
HV2475
Dictionaries of individual sign languages have generally been classified in HV2475. The addition of a reference indicating that such dictionaries should be classed with the language in HV2476.4-.5 would be a change in practice, and the meeting does not consider such a change to be useful at this time. The proposal was not approved.
Subject Headings
Bisexual men
This proposal was made to add a UF Bi men to the heading Bisexual men. There is already a reference from Bi people to Bisexuals, and the meeting considers that to be sufficient. The proposal was not approved.
Family cemeteries
This heading seems to have been proposed for use on genealogical works, to which the heading Cemeteries is currently assigned. The meeting does not consider it useful to divide genealogical works about family cemeteries from similar works about other types of cemeteries. The proposal was not approved.
Performing arts facilities
Many works about performing arts facilities have been assigned the more general heading Arts facilities. In addition, there is already a heading Centers for the performing arts, which has also been assigned numerous times. The distinction between performing arts facilities and centers for the performing arts is very slight, and the meeting does not wish to have two headings for such similar concepts. UF references will be made from Performing arts facilities to Arts facilities and Centers for the performing arts. The proposal was not approved.
Radio broadcasting and social change
Works on the relationship between radio broadcasting and social change have been assigned the heading Radio broadcasting--Social aspects, and that treatment seems sufficient. The proposal was not approved.
Spanish language--Quantifiers
According to Subject Headings Manual instruction sheet H 1154, the subdivision --Quantifiers free-floats under headings for individual languages and groups of languages. The proposal was not necessary.
