The classification proposal may be resubmitted with a revised subject proposal. See below under Jainism and social problems.
DU125.A58
The classification proposal may be resubmitted with a revised subject proposal. See below under Antikirrinya (Australian people).

GV1189.3
The work being cataloged is about a particular archery range in Korea, not about archery ranges in general. The particular range should be classed with the place in GV1188.K+ instead. The proposal was not approved.
PQ6140.F35
Fantasy fiction is a type of fiction, not a topic in fiction, and as such it should class in PQ6147.F35 instead. The proposal was not approved.
SH380.47.U35

Other decisions:
Antikirrinya (Australian people)
The cataloger should provide the affiliation of the individual whose email is cited in the 670 to support the validity of the information. In addition, the AIATSIS catalog of Aboriginal Australians provides the name Antikirinya, and it appears to be much more common than the spelling provided in the proposal. The cataloger should ascertain if they are two different names for the same group. If so, a UF should be added for the variant spelling, and the cataloger should consider which spelling should be used as the heading. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Asian American neighborhoods
The title of the work being cataloged, “GlobalLinks,” was provided in support of this proposal, along with a Google search that confirms the use of the phrase being proposed as the heading. The proposal should include information from the work that supports the concept represented by the proposed heading. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Authors, Garhwali
This qualifier is for an ethnic group. Since the ethnic group is not established, it needs to be proposed. Also, information from the work cat supporting this proposal should be provided in English. The proposal may be resubmitted along with a proposal for the ethnic group.
Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park (Calif.)
GNIS was not cited, and it includes a variant name, which should be included as a UF. The first UF should be removed, per H 1925 sec. 1.b., which states: “Generally, do not add 451 fields in which the only variation is the abbreviation of the generic words in the heading.” The proposal may be resubmitted.
ʼBro-tshang family
Information from the work being cataloged should be provided in English in support of the proposal. In particular, support for the proposal should include the form of the name as it appears in English and information about the family nationality, ethnicity, and/or location. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Broad jump
The proposal seeks to add two inverted UFs that begin with the same word stem as the BT. The proposal was not approved.
Chalvet (Basse-Pointe, Martinique)
Estates, which is given as the BT, is not a valid heading. It is unclear whether Chalvet is a Dwelling, a Plantation, or a “dwelling with extensive grounds.” The tagging of the heading is dependent upon this decision. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Climatic changes—Religious aspects; Climatic changes—Religious aspects—Buddhism, [Christianity, etc.]
Only the title “Climate justice” was provided in support of these proposals. The proposals should include information from the work that indicates the need for the proposals and supports the headings. The proposals may be resubmitted.
Education—Japan—History—1912-1926
There is no indication of how the proposed heading relates to the work being cataloged. The proposal should contain information in English to support each portion of the heading being proposed. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Elegiac poetry, Magahi
Information from the work cat should be provided in English to support the proposal. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Flash fiction, Argentine
The information provided about the work being cataloged does not support the qualifier on the heading. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Flins-sur-Seine (France)
The information provided in the 670s make it clear that this is a populated place, which should be established in the name authority file. The proposal was not approved.
Genealogy in art
The work being cataloged is about blood quantum, which is a measure of kinship, not genealogy. The meeting suggested that the cataloger consider proposing “Kinship in art” instead. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Hawa Mahal (Jaipur, India)
The only support provided by the cataloger for this heading was a citation from Wikipedia. The meeting requests that information from an authoritative source be provided. Evidence from English-language sources should be provided to verify that the literal translations of the Hindi name, which appeared in the Wikipedia article, are actually used as names for the building. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Healthy cooking
Information from the work cat in addition to the translation of the title should be provided in support of this proposal. The cataloger’s note indicates that healthy cooking is different than vegetarian cooking or cooking with natural foods, but the proposal does not give a definition or description of what constitutes “healthy cooking.” To avoid misapplication of the heading, the proposal would benefit from the addition of a scope note. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Herrerias (Spain)
The 670 clearly states that Herrerias is a municipality, which should be established in the name authority file. The proposal was not approved.
Humorous stories, Cuban
The information provided about the work being cataloged does not support the qualifier on the heading. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Ir̲aiyan̲ār
This appears to be the name of the author of the work cat, which should be established in the name authority file. The proposal was not approved.
Jainism and social problems
Only the title of the work cat was provided, and it does not support the proposal (social consciousness is not equivalent to social problems). The proposal may be resubmitted.
Love stories, Tibetan
The classification number on this proposal must be proposed. The proposal should have included information in English in addition to the Tibetan title of the work being cataloged. The proposal may be resubmitted along with a proposal for the classification number.
Male homosexuality in the theater
The proposal should have included information in English in addition to the Japanese title of the work being cataloged. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Manipur Valley (India)
It appears that this may be the valley of the Manipur River. If so, the river should be proposed. If not, evidence that it is not the valley of the Manipur River should be provided on the proposal. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Novelists, Sinhalese
The proposal should have included information in English in addition to the Sinhalese title of the work being cataloged. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Orzel (Race horse)
Since 2013, animals with proper names have been established in the name authority file (see SHM H 1332 sec. 9). The proposal was not approved.
Oxymoron in rabbinical literature; Oxymoron in the Bible
The proposals should have included information in English in addition to the Hebrew title of the work being cataloged. The proposals may be resubmitted.
Padmanayaka dynasty
The proposal provided no indication of the time period of this dynasty, and supported it otherwise with only a Wikipedia article. The meeting requested that additional information from an authoritative source be provided. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Proverbs, Sadani
The proposal should have included information in English in addition to the Sadani title of the work being cataloged. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Railroad stories, Cuban
The title provided does not bear a clear relationship to the proposal. Information from the work cat should be provided to support the topic (railroad stories) and the nationality (Cuban) in the heading. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Sacra corona unita
This organization has been established in the name authority file (n 2016039037). The proposal was not approved.
Triple jump
The proposal seeks to add an inverted UF that begins with the same word stem as the BT. The proposal was not approved.
Ucides cordatus
The cataloger should refer to standard reference works for authoritative information, including the Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS) (http://www.itis.gov/), the World Register of Marine Species (WORMS) (http://www.marinespecies.org/), or other sources, rather than relying on Wikipedia. These reference sources provide authoritative information including the status of the terms as well as lists of synonyms or common names that should be included as UFs on the proposal.
The broader term on the proposal is Ucidadae, which some reference sources give as the family rather than the genus related to the species being proposed. SHM H 1332 states that headings are established for the taxonomic hierarchy species, genus, family, order, class, phylum, or division, and that the term from the next broader level in that hierarchy should be chosen as the broader term for the proposed heading. For the species Ucides cordatus, the broader term should be the genus, which is Ucides. A heading for the genus Ucides must be proposed.
In tthe case of this species, ITIS gives Ocypodidae as the family, but WORMS gives Ucididae as the family. Further research should be done to show that there is a conflict and to give the reasoning used to choose one option over the other. (It appears that the family Ocypodidae may have undergone a split or that it is a disputed assignment. If it was split, the headings for the genera and species of Ocypodidae should all be examined and proposals should be submitted for any existing headings affected by the split.) The accompanying proposal for Ucididae may be revised to supplement the justification for the heading, or, the proposal for Ucididae may be deleted and the existing heading Ocypodidae may be revised.
Finally, the instructions in H 1332 sec. 6 state that a classification number should be provided in the headings for plants and animals. The classification number for this heading would be QL444.M33, which should be qualified by (Zoology).
The proposal for Ucides cordatus may be resubmitted. The accompanying proposal for Ucididae may be resubmitted or deleted, and the corresponding classification proposal may be revised and resubmitted. Proposals to revise headings affected by the possible Ocypodidae/Ucididae split should also be submitted.
Ukrainian American families
The title provided does not bear a clear relationship to the proposal. Information from the work cat should be provided to support the heading. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Unexplained aerial phenomena
Aerial Phenomenon, Inc. (http://aerial-phenomenon.org/about-api/), which is an organization that investigates sightings, indicates that “Unidentified flying objects” and “Unexplained aerial phenomena” are the same thing. The proposal was not approved. A UF for Unexplained aerial phenomena was added to the existing heading Unidentified flying objects.
War poetry, Bundeli
The proposal should have included information in English in addition to the title of the work being cataloged. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Women poets, Tamil
The proposal should have included information in English in addition to the title of the work being cataloged. The proposal may be resubmitted.
MEDIUM OF PERFORMANCETERMS
gusli
The proposed UF is not supported by citations. Supporting a UF in LCSH does not confer support in LCMPT, since they are separate vocabularies. Also, the 681 should not be removed. The proposal may be resubmitted.
DEMOGRAPHIC GROUP TERMS
Mystics
There was no work cat citation provided on the proposal. The heading “Mystics” was proposed as a BT for Sufis, but it was not appropriate for that heading. L 468 sec. 2.a(3) explicitly says not to make proposals to fill in hierarchical gaps; therefore, the proposal was not necessary.
