The proposal placed the entire continent of Africa in a Cutter number range for countries. While this is workable, it seemed better to place Africa on the same level with the other continents. A replacement proposal was made for this topic at ML1750 on this list. The proposal was not approved.

The proposal was for the gallery Fiberspace (Gallery : Stockholm, Sweden). The focus of this gallery is fiber art and design, which means that the gallery should class at TT6.S82 S764, for which no proposal is necessary. The proposal was not approved.

The proposal was for the Skou language. Based on information in the bibliographic record, the work being cataloged is primarily about the Skou people and secondarily about the language. The work should class at DU744.35.S56. The proposal was not necessary.

Announcement re: "primitive" in art and architecture headings
The 2203 list included a project to remove the term primitive from all art and architecture headings. Northwestern University proposed the project and worked closely with PTCP to make the changes. The changed headings are all grouped together in the Approved Subject Headings list for March. Northwestern University has also tackled the challenge of proposing changes to the use of primitive in Library of Congress Classification captions, etc., which will follow at a later time. The Library thanks Northwestern University for their work.
Announcement re: Slaves to Enslaved persons
The approved change of Slaves to Enslaved persons will be issued in a separate list due to the large number of headings involved in the change. The proposal that was included on the List 2203 will be withdrawn, and then placed on the separate list with all the headings impacted as soon as is practicable.
Announcement re: Urban [demographic group] headings
A group of proposals on the List 2203 addressed the established pattern of [Ethnic group]--Urban residence, with a broader term of Urbanization. The University of Alberta recognized that this pattern was not consistent with a parallel pattern of Urban [demographic group] headings that also existed, each of those with the broader term City dwellers--[Place]. The university made proposals to bring these headings into alignment with the Urban [demographic group] pattern, which means that these changed headings are now class of persons headings and are therefore eligible to have all free-floating subdivisions for Classes of Persons (H 1100). The Library of Congress thanks the University of Alberta for their work.
Announcement re: [Topic] in comics and --In comics free-floating subdivision
San Diego State University made a proposal to establish the heading Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945), in comics. This proposal establishes a new pattern to address the study of a topic within comic books and graphic novels, following the existing pattern of topics in literature and art. This heading and the resulting pattern were approved on List 2203. As a result of this decision, the Library also decided to extend the ability to bring out topics in comics and graphic novels in historical and critical works by establishing the free-floating subdivision $x In comics. The subdivision may be used under names of individual persons, families, corporate bodies, and countries, cities etc., Christian denominations and uniform titles of sacred works, and under names of deities, mythological or legendary figures, and fictitious characters. All uses under wars will need to be established editorially, e.g., World War, 1939-1945—Comics and the war. The instruction sheet H 1430 for Comics and Comic Characters and related pattern instruction sheets will be updated to reflect this change in practice.
At approximately the same time, the ALA Graphic Novel and Comics Round Table, in cooperation with the ALA Subject Access Committee, made a revision proposal to H 1430 to allow for increased subject access to comics and graphic novels by adding a Special Provisions section, as is done in H 1790 for fiction. This instruction sheet revision is in process, and the updated instruction sheet will include the use of [Topic] in comics, --In comics subdivision, and the special provisions for increased subject access. The finalized version will be announced and posted on the website as well as published in Cataloger’s Desktop. The Library thanks the GNCRT for their work in moving this forward.

Albanian language—Spoken Albanian; Dutch language—Spoken Dutch; Kannada language—Spoken Kannada; Kazakh language—Spoken Kazakh; Sinhalese language—Spoken Sinhalese; Vietnamese language—Spoken Vietnamese
These six proposals all attempted to create an authorized heading for the spoken form of a language. At this time, the multiple subdivision that free-floats under languages still exists (H 1154). The instructions regarding the multiples project are unchanged. These proposals were not necessary.
Alpokalja (Hungary)
Only the Hungarian-language title of the work being cataloged was provided to support this proposal. The instruction sheet H 202 requires information in English that explains the relationship of the work to the heading being proposed. The proposal may be resubmitted
Austral language
The instruction sheet H 202 requires that the first citation be for the work being cataloged, with information to justify the proposal. Only proposals that support a reference hierarchy do not require this. Since no related proposals were found to justify the need for this proposal, there is no reason for it. The proposal may be resubmitted with the appropriate support.
Guarita Fazenda (Brazil)
The Summary of Decision of September 2021 stated,
The broader term that was chosen is not supported in the source citations. Fazenda has several translations, only one of which is hacienda. Information that is added to the proposal to support the choice of BT should be in English. The proposal may be resubmitted.
No information was given that satisfied the requirement stated. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Historical poetry, Chinese
The subject heading Historical poetry is for poetry that is on historical topics. The citation given indicates that this is poetry from the Northern and Southern Song dynasties, which does not make it clear whether this is poetry written in a historical time period and/or if it is written on historical topics. The meeting was unclear if this was the appropriate subject heading or if it required Chinese poetry—Song dynasty, 960-1279. The proposal may be resubmitted.

Kings Dominion (Richmond, Va.)
The instruction sheet H 202 requires that information to support the broader term(s) is included in the citations. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Lugh (Celtic deity)
Lugh is a Celtic deity, and H 405 states that Gods (Individual) are established in the name authority file. The proposal was not approved.
Magdalena (Colombia)—Description and travel
The subdivision –Description and travel is free-floating under H 1140 Names of Places. The proposal was not necessary.
Occupancy (International law)
The proposal included a related term reference to the new heading Doctrine of discovery (International law). Both of these terms have the same broader term of International law. According to H 370 sec. 2, two headings that share the same broader term at any level of the hierarchy cannot have related term references. The proposal was not approved.
Paralaudakia caucasia
The instruction sheet H 1332 states “Whenever necessary, establish the name of the next broader level in order to make the broader term reference.” The genus Paralaudakia is necessary for the hierarchy of Paralaudakia caucasia. The proposal may be resubmitted with the accompanying genus proposal.
Poets, Chinese—Ming dynasty, 1368-1644
Only the Chinese-language title of the work being cataloged was provided to support this proposal. The instruction sheet H 202 requires information in English that explains the relationship of the work to the heading being proposed. The proposal may be resubmitted
Public toilets—Law and legislation
The scope note for Restrooms states “Here are entered works on rooms in office buildings, stores, restaurants, etc., equipped with toilets and washbasins for use by employees, customers, or visitors.” The scope note for Public toilets states “Here are entered works on freestanding buildings or stalls designed to provide toilets and washbasins for use by the general public.” The citation from the work being cataloged uses the term “Public restrooms.” Research by the meeting indicates that the appropriate heading might be Restrooms—Law and legislation. More information from the work being cataloged is needed to clarify the question. The proposal may be resubmitted.
Social tourism
Despite the citations given, the meeting did not have enough information to decide if this proposal was appropriate or if the work needed the heading Tourism—Social aspects. The related classification proposal does not attempt to separate the two concepts. More information is needed to clarify if these two headings should be separate or if the existing heading is sufficient. The proposal may be resubmitted.
