Herbert Block (Herblock) is one of the most perceptive and popular political commentators this country has ever known. Through thousands of daily editorial cartoons, he has defined for millions a context for understanding world events. He published his first daily editorial cartoon in April 1929, six months before the stock market crashed. Eight decades later he is the archetype of the modern political cartoonist.
