National and University Library in Ljubljana
1. CIP program improvements planned to benefit libraries: Libraries can benefit of CIP records immediately from the union catalogue. We can say that they are 95% right. CIP records for the moment being contain UDC only, we would like to add subject headings, but for doing that the complete text should be transmitted. which is very unlikely because CIP records are always asked for at he last minute.
2. CIP program improvements planned to benefit publishers: Seminars and interviews are at publishers' disposition to extend the awareness of mutual collaboration and benefits. A bulletin of CIP records is published monthly as an E-publication. It can be used by librarians and publishers. A project of "Books in print" is in progress.
3. Improvements publishers could make to improve CIP program: The publishers are kindly asked to give us as many details as needed, sometimes even more, to make good and accurate CIP records. We wish them to apply for CIP records in time not to work under pressure.

Comments We are planning to include our CIP Programme also other type of materials, such as Internet resources and serials. Not all Estonian ISBN/ISMN-publishers are participating in the CIP programme yet, therefore the increase of the number of publishers participating in the programme is the key task of the Estonian ISBN Agency. To arouse the interest of the publishers to join with the CIP programme, the compiling of the Books-in-Print catalogue (the development of which is under discussion currently) is considered to be essential. The establishment of BIP will support the structural development of the national book market and promote cooperation between publishers, the Estonian ISBN Agency and Estonian libraries.

Biblioteca Nacional de Chile
1. CIP program improvements planned to benefit libraries: Increase the CIP cataloging in the most important publishing houses in Chile. This is also of benefit to our institution as the Sub Directorate of Public Libraries, which makes sizeable book purchases, will thus have the titles already catalogued.
2. CIP program improvements planned to benefit publishers: Let the publishing houses know that it is also beneficial to them to have CIP cataloguing, as their clients (libraries and other information centres) prefer to have copies already catalogued, since this technical work is very expensive to carry out in-house.
