SELECTED DOCUMENTS FROM LIBRARY OF CONGRESS RULE
INTERPRETATIONS, 2002, UPDATE NO. 4
Some of the documents in Update no. 2 include statements referring users to the CPSO
Web site for further information because final decisions had not yet been made. These decisions
for rules 1.1B1, 1.4F8, 1.7B23, and 12.7B8 have now been made for Library of Congress (LC)
and Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) catalogers. Links to the documents are provided
below until Update no. 4 has been added to Cataloger's Desktop.
Four other documents in Update no. 4 are important for the implementation of Revision
2002 of the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules on December 1, 2002. Links to the documents for 12.1B2, 12.7A2, 21.2A, 21.30J, and 26.5A are provided below until Update no. 4 has been added to Cataloger's Desktop.

- 1.1B1 -- Despite the reference found in Update no. 2,
there will be no specific
statement, because "LC/PCC practice" will be following the rule as written.
- 1.4F8 -- This document provides one "practice" statement for
serials and another
"practice" statement for multipart items and integrating resources.
- 1.7B23 -- This document provides a "practice" statement for
multipart items.
- 12.1B2 -- This document was revised to clarify that the
implementation decision not to condense existing records applies to both bibliographic and series
authority records.
- 12.7A2 -- This document was revised to clarify the use of
exact information when giving notes about changes of data elements for integrating resources.
- 12.7B8 -- Despite the reference found in Update no. 2,
there will be no specific
statement, because "LC/PCC practice" will be following the rule as written.
- 21.2A -- This document was revised (1) to clarify that the
general guidelines apply to both serial bibliographic records and to series authority records for
monographic series and (2) to give the revised wording for category i) in rule 21.2A2.
- 21.30J -- This document was revised (1) to add a section for
making a title added entry for the title plus introductory words (cf. rule 1.1B1) and (2) to add a
section for making a title added entry for the acronym or initialism recorded as other title
information for a serial or integrating resource (cf. rule 12.1B2).
- 26.5A -- This document was revised (1) to clarify the wording
for giving a see reference for the acronym or initialism of a serial or integrating resource, (2) to
add a section for giving a see reference for the title plus introductory words, and (3) to add a
section for giving a see reference for the incorrect form of the title proper of a serial or
integrating resource when the title proper has been transcribed in a corrected form.
