Searching
for Unstructured Free-floating Subdivisions |
In the Unstructured free-floating
subdivision search
the -- (dashes) between
the terms are optional. As we saw with the structured approach
the search is left match with automatic truncation. The big advantage
over the Structured
free-floating
subdivision search is the ability to
enter terms freely, without regard to the structure of a Library
of Congress
free-floating subdivision. If you are not sure if and/or where
double dashes appear, it would be an advantage to use the Unstructured
free floating subdivison search.
In this simulation,
we have entered the subdivision "harvesting machinery " in
the Structured free-floating subdivision box. Select
the Search button. We see that we did not retrieve
any records because we did not include the-- dashes. Next
select the Reset button to try again this time with
the
Unstructured free floating subdivision search. Select
the Search button again and notice you successfully
retrieved the subdivision. Finally,
select the Reset button
to try a Keyword search.
