Boris Godunov (opera)

Music by Modest Mussorgsky, revised and orchestrated by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov; libretto by Modest Mussorgsky, after Aleksandr Pushkin; stage direction: Alexander Sanin; sets by Aleksandr Golovin, Alexandre Benois, and Konstantin Yuon; costumes by Ivan Bilibin, Dmitri Stelletsky, Aleksandr Golovin, Alexandre Benois, Boris Anisfeld, Eugene Lanceray, Stephan Yaremich, and Konstantin Yuon; stage direction by Alexander Sanin; choreography by Michel Fokine; premiere on 19 May 1908, Théâtre National de l'Opéra, Paris. The title role of Boris Godunov was performed by one of the most important singers in Russian opera history, Fedor Chaliapin. [The opera was first produced in 1874 in Saint Petersburg. In 1896 it was performed in the revised version by Rimsky-Korsakov. The opera was presented by Diaghilev again on 22 May 1913, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris.]
