Collection Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Web Archive

About this Collection

The Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Web Archive is a collection of websites exhibiting the purpose, planning, construction, and use of the Eisenhower Memorial. This historically significant memorial's online presence has been preserved by collecting associated websites. Twenty-nine sites have been chosen.

Examples of sites chosen reflect the design competition among architectural firms, the concerns and lively debate over the chosen Frank Gehry design and the management of the physical memorial site.

The Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Web Archive will serve as a useful tool for researchers in studying the life and career of Dwight D. Eisenhower, the manner and form of his memorialization and the issues involved in placing this new memorial site within an already crowded urban location.

Collection Period: July 2021 to June 2022.

Frequency of Collection: The majority of sites in the collection were added to crawl once, with some added to crawl on a quarterly basis.

Languages: Collection material in English.
