Laos, one of the world’s few remaining communist regimes, holds general elections for the National Assembly every five years. Parliamentary Election and Presidential Election were held on April 30, 2011 and June 2011. The elections are significant political events in Laos reflecting the activeness of the Lao population in exercising their democratic right to elect their representatives to parliament. The election is being impacted by the democracy movement in Asia and is now happening in the Middle East. This collection includes archived government, news media and non-profit websites.
