Opening Dance
1927

Performed to music by Norman Lloyd, Opening Dance premiered on July 30, 1937, at the Bennington School of the Dance, Burlington, Vermont. The solo was danced by Martha Graham. Critic John Martin, writing for the New York Times (August 15, 1937), felt that the work "belongs in that most thankless category of the recital dancer, something to raise the curtain with."
