Trained as an anesthesiologist, Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Roos deployed to the Middle East in late 2001, shortly after the terrorist attacks on September 11th. Serving first in Uzbekistan, and then in Afghanistan, his work in the operating room supported such military operations as Operation Anaconda. Deploying twice more, he was stationed in Balad and Baghdad, Iraq, eventually serving as Chief of the Anesthesia Service for the 332nd Air Force Theater Hospital in Balad.
