The Chicago Reader defines the Mivos Quartet as “one of America’s most daring and ferocious new music ensembles.” Reflecting this definition, their concert features works created by giants of European and American contemporary music—and offers the rare opportunity to hear them performed on the Library’s Stradivari instruments. The evening presents an intricate fusion of manners and styles, ranging from expressionistic intensity and raw emotion to the poetry of polychromatic, sonorous spaces and meditative landscapes.
