Did you know that every one of us both owns and uses copyrighted works? Copyright is all around, especially in literature. Join us to learn how copyright affects you, including the basics of copyright and how it promotes creativity among authors and artists. We will focus on what copyright protects, the relationship between copyright and the Library of Congress, what isn’t protected by copyright, who is a copyright owner, how creators can register their works, the basics of mandatory deposit for publishers, works based on other copyrighted works, responsibly using copyrighted works, recent changes in copyright procedures and how to stay in touch with the U.S. Copyright Office.
