Marcus Samuelsson is the author of the cookbooks “New American Table,” “The Soul of a New Cuisine” and “The Red Rooster Cookbook.” He is also the co-author of “Yes, Chef,” which was a New York Times bestseller, and “The Rise: Black Cooks and the Soul of American Food” (Voracious), which was described by Vogue magazine as “a declaration that Black Food Matters.” Samuelsson is the owner of the restaurants Street Bird, Ginny’s Supper Club and Red Rooster Harlem. He is also known for his work as a philanthropist. During the pandemic, he has turned a number of his restaurants into community kitchens to serve 150,000 meals to people in need.
