Brit Bennett is the author of “The Mothers,” which was selected as the best book of 2016 by NPR, and “The Vanishing Half” (Riverhead), which was a No. 1 New York Times bestseller and named the best book of 2020 by The Washington Post and People magazine. In addition to publishing novels, Bennett has published essays and book reviews in Jezebel, The Paris Review, The New York Times Magazine and The New Yorker. She has received numerous honors, such as a Hurston-Wright Award for College Writers, the Hopwood Award in Graduate Short Fiction and the 5 Under 35 Prize from the National Book Foundation. In 2021, she was selected as one of the world’s Next 100 Influential People by Time magazine.
