"The Season of Styx Malone" by Kekla Magoon

Caleb Franklin and his big brother, Bobby Gene, are excited to have adventures in the woods behind their house in Sutton, Indiana. When they meet Styx Malone, their cool 16-year-old neighbor, the brothers embark on an adventure beyond their wildest dreams.

Kekla Magoon grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and wrote her first novel when she was in high school. Since then, she has written several novels and nonfiction books for young readers. Three of her books have received Coretta Scott King Honors, including “The Season of Styx Malone” (Yearling).
