"Mi isla bella, mi isla hermosa" by Isset M. Pastrana-Andino

After the passage of Hurricane Maria in 2017, the people of Puerto Rico experienced an outpouring of emotion and grief. Then, neighborhoods watched as their children and young people helped to rebuild and uplift their communities. “Mi isla bella, mi isla hermosa” (Leer es Crecer) highlights how communities came together in solidarity and action after the hurricane’s devastation.
Isset M. Pastrana-Andino is an author and illustrator of children’s books. She is also an educator and member of the education faculty at the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras.
