Xochitl Gonzalez has a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where she was an Iowa Arts Fellow and recipient of the Michener-Copernicus Prize in Fiction. She was the winner of the 2019 Disquiet Literary Prize, and her work has been published in Bustle, Vogue and The Cut. Gonzalez is a contributor to The Atlantic, where her weekly newsletter, “Brooklyn, Everywhere,” explores gentrification of people and places. Prior to beginning her master’s, Gonzalez was an entrepreneur and strategic consultant for nearly 15 years. She serves on the board of the Lower East Side Girls Club. A native Brooklynite and proud public school graduate, Gonzalez received her Bachelor of Arts in fine art from Brown University. She lives in Brooklyn with her dog, Hectah Lavoe. Her New York Times bestselling debut book, “Olga Dies Dreaming: A Novel” is featured at the 2022 National Book Festival.
