“The Conjure-Man Dies” by Rudolph Fisher is a groundbreaking American mystery, the first ever to feature a Black detective and all Black characters, recently republished in the Library of Congress’ Crime Classics series. During this program, actors will perform a scene from the original stage adaptation of the novel and you’ll hear from Crime Classics series editor and mystery expert Leslie S. Klinger.
