His well-known characters and series include “Alex Cross,” “Women’s Murder Club,” Jane Effing Smith and “Maximum Ride.” He has co-authored novels with Bill Clinton and Dolly Parton and received an Edgar Award, 10 Emmy Awards, the Literarian Award from the National Book Foundation and the National Humanities Medal.
