Ned Blackhawk is the Howard R. Lamar professor of history at Yale University and an enrolled member of the Te-Moak Tribe of the Western Shoshone. A graduate of McGill University, he holds graduate degrees in history from the University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of Washington. Blackhawk is the author or co-editor of four books on Indigenous history, including “Violence Over the Land: Indians and Empires in the Early American West.” His most recent work, “The Rediscovery of America: Native Peoples and the Unmaking of U.S. History,” which won the 2023 National Book Award in nonfiction, is featured at the 2024 National Book Festival.
