Motoring Along

Stage star Georgia Caine, shown seated with her dog, leads a carload of Pittsburgh and New York pennant-wielding fans from the Lyric Theatre to a game in July 1909. Caine was appearing on Broadway that summer in the musical The Motor Girl, a vehicle designed for her, when she was photographed with her entourage aboard a Studebaker touring car. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Pirates, led by another star, shortstop Honus Wagner, were busy winning 110 games that season and went on to capture their first World Series title.
