The Voice of Vin

Even with the game right in front of them at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles fans tuned in to their transistor radios—and later their smartphones—to hear the dulcet tones of sportscaster Vin Scully. Masterfully mixing stories, insights, factoids, and play-by-play, Scully captivated baseball fans nationwide, calling NBC’s Game of the Week, All-Star games, and a record-setting twenty-eight World Series. Widely regarded as the best in the business, he retired in 2016 at age eighty-eight, after sixty-seven seasons with the Dodgers.
